The Celina Education Association (CEA) has filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge against the Celina Board of Education for violating Ohio law regarding negotiations. “The school board has been discussing negotiations in public venues – school board meetings, school board candidate forums and on social media.  The CEA was forced to file the Unfair Labor Practice charge against the Board because Ohio law clearly states negotiations are to be conducted in privateThe Board’s open comments were misleading and made in order to directly deal with the CEA members.  The Board’s actions constitute interference with CEA as its sole bargaining representative and coercion of the CEA membership” said CEA spokesperson Steve Stewart.  “Furthermore, the school board is allowing an outsider, their attorney, to dictate when the parties negotiate.  The CEA has requested a return to the negotiations table and is eager to settle a fair contract.  Please contact school board members Matt Gilmore and Amy Hoyng and urge them to honor the collective bargaining process and settle this contract.”  Matt Gilmore’s phone number is 419-363-3870 and Amy Hoyng’s phone number is 419-586-2041.

“The Celina Education Association is deeply disappointed that the Celina Board of Education has chosen to violate Ohio law and publish misleading information on the school district’s website.  Because CEA is following the law, we will not respond to the information posted on the website at this time. Celina teachers will continue to direct our focus on the education and well-being of the students of Celina City Schools and leave negotiations to our bargaining team.”
